Shell Omala S4 WE 680 (formerly known as: Shell Tivela S) is a fully synthetic polyalkylene glycol (PAG) industrial gear oil for worm gear units (ISO VG 680).

Applications

For worm gear units operating under severe conditions such as high loads, very low or high temperatures and strong temperature fluctuations
For hard-to-access systems where particularly long oil life is important
Also suitable for lubricating bearings and other components in circulating systems

Features

Long oil life thanks to very good thermal and oxidative stability
Very high wear protection and protection against micro-pitting
Supports improved energy efficiency in worm gears
Not miscible with mineral oil-based and many other synthetic products
Good compatibility with nitrile and Viton seals; Viton is recommended

Application Notes

Special care is required when changing over from mineral oils or other synthetic oils; flushing the system with Shell Omala S4 WE is recommended.
Not recommended for applications involving aluminium or aluminium alloys.
