Shell Omala S4 GXV Plus 460 (also known as Shell Omala S4 GXV 460 / Shell Omala S4 GX 460 / Shell Omala HD 460) is an advanced, fully synthetic high-performance industrial gear oil ISO VG 460 based on selected synthetic base oils (mPAO), designed for severe operating conditions and extended oil drain intervals.

Applications

Enclosed industrial reduction gearboxes operating under severe conditions (high load, very low/high temperatures, strong temperature fluctuations)
Geared motor systems and hard-to-access installations requiring extended maintenance/oil change intervals
Circulating and splash-lubricated systems: bearings and other gearbox components

Characteristics

Very high thermal and oxidative stability – supports extended oil drain intervals and reduced deposit formation
High load carrying capacity with strong protection against micropitting and wear
Excellent rust and corrosion protection – even with contamination by water and solids
Optimised low-temperature behaviour and reduced friction – supports gearbox efficiency
Very good seal compatibility (e.g. NBR, FKM) for critical dynamic sealing conditions
Suitable for high-flow systems; validated filterability down to 3 µm (advanced OEM filterability tests)
Passed bearing tests with no WEC damage in accordance with FVA 707 working group test protocol
