Shell Turbo S5 DR 46 is a fire-resistant hydraulic fluid and turbine lubricating oil (ISO VG 46) made with tri-aryl phosphates based on butylated phenol.

Applications

• Hydraulic fluid for electrohydraulic control (EHC) systems in steam and gas turbines

• Very hard to ignite / self-extinguishing phosphate ester fire-resistant hydraulic fluid with high flash point, high fire point and high auto-ignition temperature, minimizing fire risk typically associated with mineral oils
• Good oxidation stability enabling long maintenance intervals under normal operating conditions
• High hydrolytic stability resisting rapid base oil degradation in the presence of moisture and water in the oil system
• Good demulsibility allowing fast water separation and extended maintenance intervals
• Good air release properties minimizing air entrainment in lubrication and control circuits for smooth operation
• Low foaming tendency supporting lubrication and heat transfer
• HSSE: advanced fire-resistant hydraulic fluid with low toxicity, TXP-free (Trixylenyl phosphate-free), developed for EHC systems to meet future EU REACH requirements and based on tert-butylphenyl phosphate
